Rain, rain, go away! Wet, cloudy skies make me want to curl up with a good book or binge watch Netflix underneath the covers. Unfortunately, life must go on. Getting dressed to be out and about in inclement weather can be tricky, but we have a few tips for you.
Invest in a versatile jacket with a hood.
You should have at least one, go-to, solid jacket with a hood to grab on the way out the door on a rainy day. Think black, navy, tan, olive, or grey – colors that can go with almost anything and will keep your cute outfit underneath dry. A zip front closure with buttons is sure to protect your work clothes, and drawstrings on the hood will keep your hair as dry as possible.
Stash umbrellas in your car, gym bag, office, etc.
No matter where I am or what I am doing, I never seem to have an umbrella when the rain starts pouring down. Invest in a few small, inexpensive umbrellas from your local pharmacy or discount store to keep in your car, in your gym bag, under your desk at work, etc. It’s also a good idea to keep some plastic grocery bags handy to put the wet umbrella in when you arrive to your destination.
Grab a hoodie.
You’ve forgotten your jacket and can’t find an umbrella anywhere. The next best thing? Grab your favorite hoodie! It might not be completely waterproof or weather resistant, but it can save your curls while you run a few errands.
Make a run for it!
When all else fails…run! There is nothing embarrassing about running through the work parking lot to save that adorable dress of yours from getting wet. I have definitely been that shoeless girl to keep my favorite suede pumps from getting ruined.
